The October 2026 Brief · Correspondence desk

Correspondence · Lauderhill, FL

For the managing partner or practice manager who would rather ask before it becomes an incident.

A few lines on the slip, or a call to the office — either way the next step is the same. Twenty minutes on the phone, a written scope within two business days, and a fixed fee between $400 and $1,500. Or, just as often, an honest note that you don’t need us yet.

Or ring the office directly (954) 753-4404 connect@thornburyhale.com

The line is open now — until 6pm Eastern.

The slips that reach this desk come from
  • Solo & small-firm attorneys
  • Family & specialty clinics

The lines into the office

Which line suits which message

Every route reaches the same desk in Lauderhill. Some simply travel faster than others, and a few are better suited to a particular kind of worry.

Contact channels, what each is best used for, and how quickly we respond
Line Where Best for When you’ll hear back
Telephone (954) 753-4404 A first question you would rather say than type, or anything that won’t keep until a reply arrives. Answered live Mon–Fri, 11am–6pm. Messages left after hours are returned the next business day.
Email connect@thornburyhale.com Forwarding a suspicious message as an attachment, sending your insurer’s security questionnaire, or asking for a scope to be priced. Within two business days.
The slip At the head of this page A first enquiry, when you would like to describe the practice once and not again on the phone. A proposed call time within two business days.
Post & couriers
8500 Nw 51St Court
Lauderhill, FL 33351
Signed engagement letters, and any paperwork your insurer or bar counsel would rather see on paper. Received Mon–Fri, 11am–6pm. Visits by arrangement only.

One request before you write: keep passwords, patient details and privileged facts out of the first message. Describe the shape of the problem — “a forwarding rule nobody remembers creating”, “a vendor with remote access we can’t account for” — and we will arrange a secure channel for the specifics.

On the call

Twenty minutes, accounted for in advance

A scoping call is not a pitch. It follows the same order every time, so you can plan who should be on the line and what to have open on the screen.

  1. Minutes 00–05

    The practice, in outline

Headcount, what you hold — PHI, privileged files, trust-account details — and the software it lives in.

  2. Minutes 05–12

    Who can reach it

Admins, your IT provider, vendors with remote access, and the shared logins everyone knows about.

  3. Minutes 12–17

    What prompted the call

The wire that nearly went astray, the insurer’s renewal questionnaire, a departing employee with admin rights.

  4. Minutes 17–20

    Which engagement, if any

We name one, with its price — from the $415 Inbox Check to $1,460 hardening — or tell you none is needed yet.

Afterwards: a written scope and a fixed quote within two business days. Nothing to sign on the call itself.

The office

A Lauderhill address, kept mostly for the post

Thornbury & Hale works through a screen, not a waiting room. 51st Court is where the phone rings, the reports are written and the engagement letters are countersigned — and where you are welcome by appointment, should you prefer to shake hands before handing over admin access.

If it can’t wait

If someone is in the mailbox right now

Read these before you ring anyone — ourselves included. They take about ten minutes and preserve exactly what your insurer, an investigator and, if it comes to that, your bar or the HHS Office for Civil Rights will ask to see.

  1. Leave the rule where it is

Screenshot the forwarding rule or unfamiliar sign-in — conditions, destination, date created. Deleting it erases the timeline your insurer will want.

  2. Reset from a different device

Change that user’s password from a machine you trust, then use “Sign out of all sessions” in the Microsoft 365 admin centre so any stolen session ends with it.

  3. If money was moving, ring the bank

Use the number printed on your statement, never the one in the email thread, and ask specifically about recalling the wire. Hours matter here.

  4. Call your insurer’s breach line

Many cyber policies require notice before you engage anyone, us included, and some assign their own incident counsel. Ask first; it protects your cover.

  5. Then ring the office

Call (954) 753-4404 and say it’s live. We will help you contain it, or point you to the right people if it has outgrown a consultancy.

A plain word about hours. Thornbury & Hale is a small consultancy, not a round-the-clock incident-response firm, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Between 11am and 6pm on weekdays we pick up; outside those hours, your insurer’s breach line is the right first call.
